1973 VW Superbeatle greenish gray foamy substance on oil filler cap and in PVC tube, how do I fix this.?

Sounds like you got a bit of water in with your oil. Run a can of engine flush for about 10 minutes, then chance your oil. Use SAE30 detergent oil. Make sure you clean out as much of the gunk as you can.

Blown head gaskets? Last I knew, the jugs were lap-fit, with just a paper gasket for oil control. Dude, if you don't know what you're talking about, go hang out in the Chevy rooms.1973 VW Superbeatle greenish gray foamy substance on oil filler cap and in PVC tube, how do I fix this.?
i love these folks that shoot from the hip. They know absolutely nothing about the car, but want to get points for their answer. Here's mine and believe me, there are no head gaskets. I found that if you deviated from the oil viscosity it would cause a lot of foam to develop in the motor. I would use only a straight 30 weight most of the year, unless you live in a heat deprived state.1973 VW Superbeatle greenish gray foamy substance on oil filler cap and in PVC tube, how do I fix this.?
In a VW air cooled IT IS NOT A BLOWN HEAD GASKET!!! Its condensation prduced by some brands of oil.%26amp; usually when the car only travels around town in cold weather. I would change your brand of oil ,wipe the foam watery stuff away. Take your car for long 3-4 hours constant drive, so that the motor gets nice and hot ...like they were designed to do.....Good duck.
It's just condensation. Wipe it out and drive on. If your engine was water cooled it may be a head gasket but it's AIR cooled. NOT A BLOWN HEAD GASKET!
Heres my 2 cent's worth. Theres a baffle between the block an generator stand. If it's left out to much oil gets thrown uo the filler opening an gets foamy.

Jim
You have a blown head gasket. Replace it and put new oil.
